MarketQuants Glossary

This glossary explains terminology and metrics used within the MarketQuants platform.


Scores & Ratings

Composite Score

A quantitative ranking metric combining multiple technical and structural factors into a normalized 0–100 scale.

  • Higher scores indicate stronger relative characteristics within the defined universe.

Diamond Score

A structural metric evaluating price behavior across multiple timeframes (5d, 20d, 50d, 200d).

  • Displayed visually as up to 10 indicators.

Efficiency Score

A portfolio metric that measures the concentration of meaningful positions relative to total holdings.

  • Calculation: (Meaningful Positions / Total Positions) × 100.

Portfolio Classifications

These classifications describe portfolio structure based on the number of positions held.

They are informational only and do not constitute investment advice.

Undecided

0 positions.

Speculative

3–8 positions, typically limited diversification.

Concentrated

9–17 positions across multiple sectors.

Diversified

18–35 positions across multiple sectors.

Losing Focus

36–44 positions.

Overbuilt

45+ positions.

These labels describe structural characteristics only.


Conviction Score

An internal system metric reflecting trend validation strength based on predefined quantitative rules.


Interface Elements

The Beacon

A toggle allowing users to switch between simulated trading mode and connected brokerage mode.


The Shells

Visual indicators representing:

  1. Equity value
  2. Available cash
  3. Total account balance

Values reflect data retrieved from connected brokerage accounts where applicable.


Leaderboard Tile

Displays ranking information for a stock, including price, relative rank, and structural metrics.


Trading Terminology

These terms describe common trading concepts referenced within the platform.

Meaningful Position

A position size significant enough to influence portfolio performance metrics.

Pilot Position

An initial, smaller allocation to a security.

Scale In

Increasing position size after an initial allocation.

Trim

Reducing a portion of an existing position.


Market Context

S&P 500 Universe

The group of approximately 500 large U.S. companies used as the platform’s primary ranking universe.

Sector Rotation

Capital movement between industry groups, which may influence relative performance metrics.
